US Navy Commissions Burke-Class Destroyer- USS Carl M. Levin In Baltimore

The U.S. Navy commissioned its newest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carl M. Levin (DDG 120), on June 24 in Baltimore, Maryland. It is 509.5 ft long, 59 ft wide and has a displacement of 9496 tons.







The commissioning of this ship was a tribute to the late Senator Carl M Levin, an advocate for the armed services in his 36-year career in the U.S. Senate. He died on July 29 2021, leaving a remarkable legacy of loyalty and dedication to national defence.

The commissioning ceremony was held at 10:00 am EDT on June 24, and the principal address was delivered by the Honorable Carlos Del Toro, Secretary of the Navy.


This is the 72nd Arleigh Burke-class destroyer to be commissioned, representing the U.S. Navy’s commitment to maintaining an advanced and capable naval fleet.
